Last updated: August 6, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains what data WordSqueezer uses, why it is needed, which third-party services may be involved and what choices you have.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for WordSqueezer is the person identified in the Imprint. The contact details listed there can also be used for privacy requests.
2. Player identification and browser login
WordSqueezer does not require a traditional account registration for normal play. Instead, the site uses a technically necessary first-party browser identifier so that the same browser can be recognised as the same player. The server stores a hashed version of that identifier.
There is no manual logout button. Your browser remains recognised until the relevant WordSqueezer browser/site data is deleted. Deleting that browser data removes the local identifier and logs that browser out. The existing server-side player record may remain stored for the purposes described in this policy, but the browser can no longer use the deleted identifier to access it.
3. Game and profile data
Depending on which features you use, WordSqueezer may store your chosen nickname, a public player ID, Premium status and expiry, game sessions, guesses or submitted words, scores, completion times, SqueezeFix moves, puzzle keys, challenge participation, Arena group membership, group names and related timestamps.
This information is used to run the games, restore progress, prevent duplicate Daily entries, calculate results and statistics, operate leaderboards and challenges, provide the Premium Arena and maintain fair play.
4. Legal bases
Where processing is necessary to provide a feature or Premium access that you requested, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Technical operation, security, abuse prevention and protection of fair gameplay may also be based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where consent is required for optional technologies, including non-essential advertising technologies, processing is based on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
5. Browser storage
The first-party player identifier is used so the requested game service can recognise your browser and associate it with your progress. Storage or access that is strictly necessary to provide an expressly requested digital service does not require consent under Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG.
Non-essential third-party storage or tracking is treated separately and, where legally required, is only used after consent.
6. What other players can see
WordSqueezer is partly competitive. Your chosen nickname and game results may therefore be visible to other players on leaderboards, in friend challenges or inside Premium Arena groups. Group names and multiplayer activity can be visible to the relevant group members and to people who receive a valid invitation link.
If you do not want your real name to be public, use a nickname that does not identify you personally.
7. Text Analyzer
Text entered into the WordSqueezer Text Analyzer is processed locally in your browser. The text itself is not uploaded to the WordSqueezer server for analysis.
8. Premium access
WordSqueezer Premium is a one-time purchase for 30 days. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically. Premium status and its expiry date are linked to the browser-based WordSqueezer player profile so the site can determine which features are available.
Purchase and refund terms are handled separately from this Privacy Policy. Nothing in this Privacy Policy limits any mandatory consumer rights that apply under applicable law.
9. Ko-fi and payment processing
WordSqueezer may use Ko-fi for Premium checkout and support payments. When you follow a Ko-fi payment link, you leave WordSqueezer and interact with Ko-fi. Ko-fi may collect information such as your display name, email address and transaction details. Payments made through Ko-fi are processed through payment providers such as PayPal or Stripe.
Depending on the payment method, PayPal or Stripe may process additional payment, billing or verification information. WordSqueezer does not receive or store your full card number, bank login credentials or comparable sensitive payment data in its game database.
Transaction-related information made available by Ko-fi or the relevant payment provider may be used where necessary to verify a payment, activate Premium, resolve payment issues or meet legal accounting obligations.
Ko-fi's privacy information is available at Ko-fi Privacy. The privacy policies of PayPal or Stripe also apply when you use those payment methods.
10. Google AdSense
The free version of WordSqueezer may display advertising through Google AdSense when advertising is enabled. Google and participating advertising partners may process information such as IP address, browser or device information, approximate location, ad interactions and identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies. This can be used for ad delivery, frequency control, measurement, fraud prevention and, where permitted, personalisation.
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, non-essential advertising technologies are only used where the required consent has been obtained through an appropriate consent management platform. Google requires publishers using AdSense in these regions to use a Google-certified CMP for personalised advertising.
Premium removes WordSqueezer advertising placements. Information about Google's use of data and cookies is available in Google's Privacy Policy and Google's cookie information.
11. Hosting and server logs
Like practically every website, WordSqueezer is delivered through a web server. The hosting provider may process connection data such as IP address, date and time of a request, requested page, browser information and similar technical data in server logs. This is used for secure and reliable operation, troubleshooting and protection against misuse.
12. How long data is kept
Game and player data is kept for as long as it is needed to provide the relevant functions, including history, leaderboards, challenges, Arena groups and Premium access, or to protect the integrity and security of the service. Data may also be retained where legal obligations require it. When data is no longer required for these purposes, it is deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
13. Recipients
Personal data may be processed by service providers needed to operate the website, particularly the hosting provider. If you use Ko-fi, PayPal, Stripe or Google AdSense, those providers may also process the data necessary for their respective services. WordSqueezer does not sell player data.
14. International data transfers
Some third-party providers may process data outside Germany or the European Economic Area. Where required, the relevant provider is responsible for using an appropriate legal transfer mechanism and safeguards under applicable data protection law.
15. Your rights
Subject to the requirements of the GDPR, you may have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
To exercise a privacy right or ask a question about your data, use the contact details in the Imprint. Because WordSqueezer can operate without a conventional registered account, we may need enough information to identify the relevant player record before acting on a request.
16. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when WordSqueezer adds or changes features, service providers or data processing. The date at the top shows the current version.
